Readymix Concrete (B) Sdn Bhd organised its fifth annual charity seminar at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) with over 120 participants yesterday.

This year, the Concrete Technology Charity Seminar was delivered by Director of YSH Advanced Engineering and Structures Yeo Shih Horng, a concrete specialist from Malaysia who has over a decade of experience since graduating from University of Malaya.

Readymix Director Hamiddon bin Haji Said in his opening remarks at the event, said, “As our nation progresses towards His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Brunei Vision 2035, it is a fact that there is a growing need to provide further awareness on the importance of concrete and its innovations.

“In the construction industry, it is known that concrete plays a vital role in nation-building, therefore we hope that this seminar will be able to deliver its goal in creating awareness,” he added.

The majority of the audience comprised members of Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei – from private consultation companies, construction companies and architectural firms.

Readymix also offered UTB students under the PUJA-UTB Student Chapter free seats, allowing them the opportunity to learn and experience how experts in their field obtain CPD Credit Hours after graduating.

Readymix Event Organiser Zara Laila binti Abdul Hadi said, “Readymix has always been a strong advocate in supporting organisations that provide education opportunities to any individual.

“This year, we chose Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei as our charity beneficiary to help assist them in their daily operations. Alhamdulillah, we have managed to raise BND2,000 from today’s seminar,” she said.

Readymix also thanked PUJA as event partner in awarding the participants with three CPD Credit Hours.
